The fruits of our labors

On Saturday we decided to take out some bushes in our backyard and replace them with fruit bushes. We bought 2 raspberry bushes and 1 grapevine. The kids were all very excited about planting fruit until they found out how long they would have to wait to actually see any fruit grow. :)
This is the before picture. (look to the left by the wall)

Everyone helped with the planting process.

The after pictures. Can you even tell the difference from the before picture?

We look forward to our fruit harvest. Whenever that may be!!

Jake, Jake the wrestling man!

Jake's wrestling season is over. (sigh) It was a long 4 months of 2 practices a week and a tournament every Saturday. Matt was helping coach the team and I think Jake and Matt both enjoyed that. The end of the year party was last Saturday. We were not able to go because we were out of town. So yesterdayMatt and Jake picked up what he would have received at the party. Which was individual pictures and a team picture all on a really nice plaque. Jake also received an awesome trophy. He was never able to place this year at any of the tournaments so I think that the trophy he received was pretty special to him.

You can't tell how happy he is about his trophy and plaque because according Matt "wrestlers don't smile. "

I got him to smile for me though.I am very proud of Jake and all the hard work he did this wrestling season. Jake worked out and conditioned harder than most adults could do and he never complained. Even though most of his Saturdays for 4 months were busy with tournaments and early mornings he didn't complain and always did his best. My little 8 year old son is really growing up. Before I know it he will be a man. sniff sniff.

Lied Discovery Children's Museum

A couple of weeks ago the kids and I went to the Lied Discovery Children's Museum. We had never been there and a good time was had by all. The first floor has a lot of hands on things to do for little kids. There were dress up area's, an airport check in with a luggage cart and also a mini airplane. There was a grocery store, bank and car repair shop to play in. As you can see below there was also a construction zone area.

Here is Brandon flying the airplane with Emma and Jake as his passengers.

There was also this great bubble making section. We spent quite a bit of time there. It was fun.
Here is Jake showing off his giant bubble he made.

Here I am attempting to put Brandon and I in a huge bubble.

Emma was doing very well at making giant bubbles as you can see.

This bubble maker made a wall of bubbles that Brandon loved to put his hands through. I love the face he kept making everytime he stuck his hands through the bubble wall.

This huge contraption would suck balls up a tube and then the ball would roll across the top and depending which lever you pulled it could pass through 3 different areas before finally reaching the ground again. You could really stand there for hours trying all the different levers. Brandon really liked this section.

This has got to be my favorite picture of the day. The museum has a hurricane simulator that got the wind blowing in this little tube up to 78 mph. I was able to snap a picture of Emma in the wind tunnel. LOVE IT!!

We didn't even get to try everything before Brandon got to tired and needed to go home. They even had a really cool show about liquid nitrogen. It was fascinating to people like me who know very little about science.

We had such a great time we got a year pass so we could check it all out again. The best part is it is only 15 minutes from our house. I am sure we will be going back again soon. Anybody want to go?
